Lecture Research. Binaural Beats Theory. Types Of Brain Waves:
-
Beta Waves (12-30 Hz):
-
Frequency: High
-
Activity: Associated with wakefulness and active concentration.
-
State: Typically present during normal waking consciousness, when the brain is actively engaged in cognitive tasks.
-
-
Alpha Waves (8-12 Hz):
-
Frequency: Moderate
-
Activity: Associated with a relaxed and calm state.
-
State: Commonly observed when an individual is awake but in a state of relaxation, such as during meditation or light daydreaming.
-
-
Theta Waves (4-8 Hz):
-
Frequency: Slow
-
Activity: Associated with deep relaxation, creativity, and daydreaming.
-
State: Often observed during light sleep, meditation, or moments of deep insight and inspiration.
-
-
Delta Waves (0.5-4 Hz):
-
Frequency: Very slow
-
Activity: Associated with deep sleep and unconsciousness.
-
State: Dominant during deep sleep, the restorative stage of the sleep cycle, when the body undergoes physical and mental rejuvenation.

Binaural Beats Cause Brainwave Entrainment:
Delta, Theta, and Alpha all reduce anxiety. Recommended beats:
Beta: reduced depression. Recommended beats:
To produce a binaural beat in the Beta range (14-30 Hz), you would need two tones with frequencies that differ by the desired beat frequency. For instance, you could use a tone of 200 Hz in one ear and 214-230 Hz in the other ear. The difference between these frequencies (214 - 200 = 14 Hz to 230 - 200 = 30 Hz) would result in a binaural beat within the Beta frequency range.
Carrier Frequencies:
For entrainment at around 10 Hz, the optimal carrier frequency is somewhere between 230 and 240 Hz1.
Tips:
It's hard to judge loudness in these frequencies. Keep power low to avoid a headache..
Great video on binaural that trades straight across to our presentation. Dangers of brain entrainment!
